This is an example of how Film is exposed in the camera (emulsion side)

Below shows the actual area that is cut out for the reels.

The round and square notches in the exposure indicate Left(round) and Right(square) image for insertion in to personal reels.

The spacing of the groups of 4 actually correspond to normal 35mm 8 perf spacing (38mm).

You can duplicate this spacing with digital content using Charles Barnard's method and use your personal cutter to make the reels. Download his template here (340k)
