Word is getting out that 3Dstereo and Reel 3-D have run out of their
remaining inventory of Fisher-Price reel blanks for the View-Master and
Meopta cameras. When word began to filter down that Fisher-Price did not
want to make reel blanks in Mexico, several people gobbled up the
existing
supplies.
We at 3Dstereo, as Fisher-Price dealers, were aware of the
discontinuation
over a year ago and had begun to develop with a new manufacturer, new
reel
blanks.
With good supplies it was not a top priority item, at first, but with
the
gobbling up of existing supplies, the fire has been turned up, and the
process of production is cooking.
But the process is still necessarily slow and meticulous. With the
upcoming
revisions and approvals of samples and trial runs of the reels, we
anticipate that we will have reel blanks on our shelves in approximately
90
days, and it looks as if the price is going to be held steady. We will
have
enough to be able to wholesale to all the dealers around the world, so
that
in less than half a year supplies should be ample and stabilized across
the
world.
In fact, the new manufacturer of the reel blanks made View-Master reels
back
in the mid-twentieth century, so as the machinery will all be new, their
experience in reel making is a bit of good fortune for all of us.
We, at 3Dstereo will keep everyone informed as to the progress over the
next
weeks to come, and we, at 3Dstereo wish to emphasize our commitment to
keeping the hobby of 3D reel shooting and collecting going.and
going..and
going!!!
